Singapore: Hard facts go soft at talk on impotence The Straits Times SEP 21 1998 WHEN impotence strikes, a man should fantasise that he is an aircraft going up, up and away. That was one of the light-hearted suggestions from consultant urologist Dr Stephen Lim, who practises at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. He was one of four panelists at a public talk on erectile dysfunction, or impotence, attended by 500 people, mostly men, yesterday. One of the slides in Dr Lim's talk and slide show showed the posterior view of a man in the buff carrying weights on his nether region. The accompanying script: "Some men fantasise theirs is very strong." These comments drew raucous laughter from the crowd, but several took the event seriously. Skin care products agent Bobby Koh, 59, who is a divorcee, said: "I'm slow in love-making and ejaculate too fast -- after two minutes. "It used to be 10 to 15 minutes previously. My regular partner doesn't mind, but I do. I'm definitely going to see a doctor." Mr Cheng, 50, a sales supervisor and father of three grown-up children who declined to give his full name, said: "I have sex only twice a month because of work and stress. Of course that's not a good rate. I prefer four times a month. "And I last only 15 to 20 minutes. It used to be 30 to 45 minutes before. "I've had this problem for two years. I was shy about seeking help, but not after this talk." Mr Richard Yap, 50, one of 250 men in the first, six-month Asian trial on Viagra which ended early this year, said: "Good, Viagra is potent. I hope it's not going to be too expensive. If it is, I'll buy one or two to use on special occasions. "You have more drive during sex. I lasted one hour, usually it's half an hour. "My wife? Oh, she can take it. She enjoys herself.
