I think we're all in violent agreement.

The GMGC tide is fundamentally coming in, however the
overall market is gloomy. Makes for treacherous tidal
surges and rips. If market fundamentals were
reasonable I'd be loading up on GMGC right now, but
instead I'm just cautiously nibbling. Staying away
from everything else, except for some modest investments
in beaten-down y2k companies.

I also agree with Drew's excellent post. GMGC doesn't
have the mindshare/brand recognition of Netscape. On
that basis alone they are a threat, independent of the
merits of their service. I presume, however, that this
has lit a fire under GMGC and perspective large partners.
Time to get moving and develop a competitive presence.

Mitigating this is the fact that Netscape is a ways
from delivering a true Portico-like service (PR hype
notwithstanding). This will take awhile, and we've got
the lead. Now GMGC needs to use this lead to partner
with the big players.
