Very interesting article.

I still think it would be neat to see Compaq turn into a services company, with a contract with Dell. CPQ reinvents itself as an internet company, sells the Tandem line to Dell, then concentrates on service. Three years from now, after the 2001 PC consolidation price war. Pure speculation of course, but it would solve a major problem, the inefficiencies of CPQ's channel.

Regards,
Stewart

Stock Bull: Thanks for posting the zdnet article on CPQ. Here is a key passage:

"In effect, Compaq is splitting itself away from other PC suppliers, whose business plans call for selling more and more cheap
desktop machines. The difference between Compaq and Dell is that "Michael Dell doesn't want to be the next
Hewlett-Packard," said ABN Amro's Wu. A year from now, "Compaq will look just like Hewlett-Packard, minus the printer
business."

Hmmmmmmmmm......DELL has unique visionary leadership that cannot be duplicated easily. Michael Dell and his team are making life difficult for CPQ. I trust Michael Dell and choose not to own CPQ stock. IMHO, DELL will continue to grow sales the fastest, leverage the internet in the best possible way, and generate the greatest returns for Long Term shareholders.

DELL IS THE NEXT DELL. The analysts are starting to realize this and soon enough CPQ shareholders will realize this!!
