Brazil seen losing more dollars Monday

Reuters, Monday, September 21, 1998 at 12:38

Forex dealers attributed the capital flight to a steep
decline in local stock prices early on Monday. The Sao Paulo
stock exchange's key Bovespa index (INDEX:$BVSP.X) plunged more than 7
percent in early trade, tracking falls posted in European and
Asian stock markets.
The increase in outflows was worrying, especially after
dollar flight had dropped to a total $207 million on Thursday
following three privatization auctions, dealers said.
Until then, some $1.5 billion on average had been fleeing
markets every day.
