Clinton's conduct has been consistent throughout his Presidency. He can't do anything (except get a blowjob) without first finding out what the public thinks about it. The absolutely worst trait a leader can have. He won't do anything that is "unpopular" or that makes him look bad (except again getting a BJ from one of his interns) because he is so tied up in his legacy and in public opinion that he doesn't have the instinct to just act and do what's right. That is so amazing to me, because Clinton is obviously a bright man and has an appreciation for history. He should know that the American people admire someone who will take a course of action because it's the right thing to do, damn the political consequences.

My favorite example of this is a man by the name of Richard Oglivie who was governor of Illinois back in the late '60s. He was a Republican who was elected after the Otto Kerner mess and one of the first things he did was push through a state income tax. Which the state needed because sales tax and property tax revenues were not sufficient to fund the state's budget needs. So he gets crucified for this unpopular move, is thrown out of office in a landslide in 1972, and is now a hero in Illinois because of what he did. To his dying day, he said he would do it all over again, even though he knew at the time he would not be reelected, because it was the right thing to do.

Clinton, on the other hand, has to float multiple trial balloons before making any decision. He tries to appease everybody and in the end has everyone hacked off at him. I hope we have learned our lesson and never elect one of his ilk again.
