Input seems to be the folly of ALL PDA's. For me, it is either Pen or nothing (large fingers). I don't own a PDA as I really don't need one. The phone is my keeper of phone numbers (all 20 of them.)

My Palm-carrying co-workers haven't complained about the pen input. Nor is the Usenet group comp.sys.palmtops.pilot drowning in complaints. But, there is a company that offers an "improved" stylus.

You can interface the Apple Newton keyboard to any Palm. odyssey.net
Or, load new recognition routines into it.

Don't know anything about Bell Mobility.
