The President will have appeared quite sympathetic to all those who have not absolutely closed their minds against him.

One of the more significant things the testimony does is make the Kendall/Presidential argument that he stuck narrowly within the Jones language understandable, and credible. And no longer laughable.

Because he got the message across very well that he was trying to mislead the Jones lawyers, and why he felt justified in doing so. That was very powerful. But also remain, technically, on the good side of actually committing perjury.

He also showed very well that there were limits as to how far he was willing to go to conceal the affair.

He did very well. The press, after all, is, through its "investigative journalism" mode, really another set of prosecutors. And have been more caught up than anybody (well, almost anybody, there are the Judiciary Committee Republicans), in the momentum of impeachment.

I think the public gets more positive through the week.

I also imagine the Jones deposition tapes won't hurt him either, and may also help.

Doug

Michelle,

After listening to the talking heads(especially on Fox TV) I assumed Pres. Clinton would turn into a "Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde" person during the testimony.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I didn't vote for him in either election, but I now want to thank those who did.

He admitted that he has no-one but himself to blame for the Monica mess.......he mentioned that when he got involved with her he realized she would not keep quiet with her friends about it, because that was not in her personality......but that she has a good heart & head.

In any event, we don't want the public to get the impression that philanderers make better presidents:o) In his case though, I believe the greater good has been served for the past 6 yrs.; even though he was wrong to be so selfish & reckless while in the White House.
