No, the i740 has not been a total failure. Even if it sold 0 units it would not be a failure. Why? Because with a part like the i740 Intel has undercut the entire 3-D market. By establishing a very low price point they have made it much harder for anyone else to sell parts that are much more expensive than theirs. Ergo, the i740 would be a success even if it totally "failed".
