I thought the latest polls show 40% favor resignation and 36% favor
impeachment, though these two groups may not be mutually exclusive
(i.e., doesn't add up to 76%). As long as the economy holds up,
most people tend to favor his staying in office since they don't
want political instability that may upset the economy. Public
opinion started turning against him when he gave his public 'apology'
on August 17. That made it the lies more personal to most people.
Until then, this was primarily a Washington issue. Some people
forgave. Some people seemed angered.
