9/21/98 - 3DFX FILES SUIT AGAINST NVIDIA FOR PATENT INFRINGEMENT

Company Claims NVIDIA TNT Product Uses 3Dfx Patented Technology For
Multi-Texturing

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dfx Interactive(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: TDFX) announced today that it has filed suit against NVIDIA Corporation in the Northern California District Federal Court asserting patent infringement. 3Dfx Interactive claims that NVIDIA is using 3Dfx Interactive's unique patented multi-texturing technology in
NVIDIA's newest product called Riva TNT. The suit follows repeated attempts by 3dfx to reach a mutually acceptable solution with NVIDIA.

"We see litigation as an unfortunate last resort," said Greg Ballard, president and chief executive officer of 3Dfx Interactive. "We regret having to pursue this matter legally, but it is imperative that we protect our intellectual property on behalf of our employees, shareholders and industry partners. Our goal is to resolve this without disrupting the industry."

3Dfx developed its multi-texturing technology over the last several years with it first appearing as advanced technology for coin-operated arcade games in 1996. Multi-texturing was first supported in 3Dfx's own Glide(R) software environment.

3Dfx Interactive, develops high performance, cost-effective 3D media processors, software and related technology that are designed to enable a highly immersive, interactive and realistic 3D experience across interactive electronic entertainment systems -- personal computers, coin-operated arcade game machines and location-based
entertainment installations, such as racing car simulators. Current 3Dfx Interactive products include the Voodoo(TM) family of accelerator chipsets, Voodoo2, Voodoo Graphics(R) and Voodoo Banshee(TM). Visit the company on the web at 3dfx.com.

RE: Yugo vs. Porsche

You may have inadvertently made my point for me. True, a Yugo for $3 will not take away from the Porsche marketplace, but a $3 Yugo would totally wipe out any market for other cars that were aimed at the consumer marketplace. Remember, most cars are priced a lot closer to a Yugo than they are to a Porsche.

Regards.

P.S. If the marketplace thought that this stock had a future do you think that the price would have fallen over %65? Maybe it is oversold, maybe not.
