I love how people always talk about Intel integrating graphics chips.

Think about history folks.

Ethernet? Did Intel try to integrate ethernet? Yes. Did they succeed, no.

Sound card? Did Intel try to integrate sound cards? Yes. Did they succeed, no.

Will Intel try to integrate graphics chips? I'm sure they will try, but they've been saying this for years.

Even if they do, the nature of integration makes it "yesterday's" technology. Add-on boards will always be on the cutting edge.

3dfx is aiming for the high end gamer. Intel's low cost graphics boards will NOT suffice.

Bottom line. Intel FAILED with i740. Some pretty liked it, it got overall good reviews. But they screwed up big time on the most important quality of all. NO SALES = NO PROFITS.

Remember folks, even with the dirt cheap I740 available, Voodoo2s were selling hand over fist at $250-300 when they first came out.
