Charley
I took the five top stocks that by % made the most
gains.
I then took the opening price of those 5 stocks and
the closing price of those 5 stocks and got what I
would have made if I had had the forsight to invest
in those 5 stocks at the opening bell.
The real trick is what will these 5 stocks do for the
rest of the week. How will they perform if I had invested
in them at the close today and sold on Friday at the close.

I will predict 17% on the close of friday.
Just a guess of course.

if I put a thousand in each ticker, deducted my round trip costs, (roughly 40 bucks) ... I would have made $655

And if you had an account at Brown, where market orders are $10 round trip, you would save $30 on each. With 31 items on the contest list, that's $930. So your profit goes from $655 to $1585.
