<OT> Regarding Dell

I'm not invested in Dell, but some would argue that i2 corp (ITWO), the company behind Dell's supply chain management software, is a major factor in Dell's success. If you are not aware of ITWO I refer you to the ITWO thread here on SI. One of the posters on the thread, Michelle Harris, worked on the i2 implementation at Dell and credits the software with much of Dell's remarkable efficiency versus the competition.

I think one thing to consider is that _if_ i2's supply chain software is behind Dell's current strong performance, then competitive adoption of similar software to streamline inventories and maximize return on capital will eventually eat away at Dell's advantage.

j...there are always plenty of reasons, when things are going well, that this time is different. Well, I have to hand it to Dell. they have made a ton of money for a ton of people. But not from HERE. And a lot of people will lose a lot of money in Dell before its over.

your link had many reasons why it's different this time. Well, I submit its not different this time. One day, and you won't even know why or when, the music stops.

but don't take MY word for it.
