I must not have watched the same set of tapes you did. Clinton came off to me as NOT credible, taking the parsing to an extreme, evasive, uncomfortable and generally not looking very Presidential or truthful. My perception is that the media over-hyped the show as to the alleged fireworks but in general Clinton did not help himself. Most people know what "alone", "is" and "sexual relations" mean. I especially liked his lame explanation of setting Bob Bennett up to lie for him with Lewinsky's phony affidavit in the PJ case. Also, his claim about the conversations with Currie about her testimony and Lewinsky's subpoena on the 28th was just ludicrous. Bottom line. Perjury and Obstruction for sure. JLA

PS Big mistake not answering the questions about sexual conduct directly. It guarantees a House impeachment inquiry and left open a legitimate question about perjury if nothing else. I believe his perjury is clear.

There was a Clinton biographer on cable tonight talking about how every time Clinton messes up, he gets an unexpected break. All through this thing, the Republican's have shot themselves in the foot. The sheer ugliness of Paula Jones, not only in appearance, but in her soul and that was clear; "I smelt money"; you just can't ask for an enemy to hang themselves any better than that. Linda Tripp; a witch from Hell who is a poster woman as the world's worst friend. Oh yeah, they try, yeah they try to excuse her as being forced to betray for legal ethics; then you find out she doctored the tapes. How could you ask for anything any better than that? Then add in Lucien Goldberg; a vicious and truely evil woman; a character out of a Hitchcock movie; Rebecca, she could have easily played that evil maid. Then you have the revelations about what total hypocrites his Republican critics have turned out to be; Hyde and his lie, a total lie of saying this was a youthful indiscretion; give me a break; this was priceless. Newt is starting to look like his swarmy vindictive evil self; an irrelevant rat running around trying to explain why this is still so very important to America just as most of America is starting to figure out that the Republican's after all have been behind this making of America a laughing stock to the world. They just can't stop screwing up. They don't have a chance of picking a candidate that can win in 2000.
