I guess that about explains why Chrysler is the perenial second
fiddle to GM among US car makers. You see GM uses SUN.

Another orchestrated Wintel press release - makes you wonder why a company
would announce they are only going to use NT and Intel AND they plan to phase
out their existing UNIX workstations. Boy that really gives a lot of leverage to
Chryslers purchasing department.

Several years ago a large wall street firm did a similar release which was
orchestrated by Intel and Compaq. Nothing came of it except the typical
microsoft FUD that NT is taking over the world. I have done consulting for this
company and their infrastructure is still IBM and Hitachi Skyline Mainframe based
with a good mix of Solaris on the trading floor and NT. 6 months ago we did a
data warehousing pilot for this company and NT was not even invited to the
party.

btw - this is not a loss for Sun as Chysler was standardized on Silicon Graphics
workstations.
