David:

The deal was consummated in July 14, 1998.

From the press release:
Last night at a press event at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art,
Motorola Inc. announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Starfish Software, Inc. Pending regulatory approvals [a given], all Starfish technology, intellectual properties, products and services will become part of Motorola. Starfish will be an independent wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola.

Kahn jokes about the fact that Starfish got "undervalued MOT stock" - something like "hey we'll take your stock ... undervalued stock".

Therefore what happened to MOT stock price post July 14, 1998 is
as the lawyers are wont to say, "not relevant" <g>.

The value was pegged at "several hundred millions of dollars" - considering that Starfish was about to go the IPO route and is in the hot communications arena, this was worth maybe 300-400 million I think. Hopefully 400 million is conservative. <g>
