Thanks for the post. I agree with your assessment completely. I guess much of the discussion we're having here is simply when.... WHEN will DELL see quality competition. Some believe it will be next year, some the year after. However, there are some that believe NEVER! It is this perspective that I have difficulty with which is why when you read my posts I appear to be saying that "at some point something will give". It is true that I'm of the belief that it will happen sooner rather than later, but to believe that it will never happen is simply crazy and I guess this is what has prompted me to take a somewhat long-term bearish view on the thread. Just adds perspective - doesn't it. ;)

As for convergence.... Hey, I can tell you that this is Waaaaaay NOT blown out of proportion and YES, it will have an effect on companies selling products like PC's. DELL may migrate to other products, but as PC's become appliances (like a toaster) margins will shrink and PE's will have to come down.
