TiO2 (titanium dioxide) is a white pigment with high hiding power used in paints and some plastics. The major marketer (don't know if they mine and make it is DuPont. It sells to paint companies for about $1/lb, a price that has been stable for years. Competition exists (both domestic and overseas) thus I would assume the costs of cleaning and milling it are around $.65-.7/#. The demand for this stuff is basically flat. If they own some that's in the ground and can be sold for a profit, why don't they mine it and sell it? There's lots of oil in the ground, unfortunatly much of it can't be extractedly profitably at today's price
