those same numbers for June/July had been even worse:

Order drop vs. 3 months before were:

June vs. March: -$ 525 M
Juli vs. April: -$ 576 M
August vs. May: -$ 325 M

Unfortunately, there's no way to calculate the actual order value from SEMI's reported data (unless someone had access to the real bookings numbers for at least three consecutive months).

Orders in August might as well have been higher than in July, despite the three month moving average heading lower.

The reported numbers are "seasonally adjusted" in some unknown fashion. While the arithmetic is interesting, it may not yield a meaningful result...
