There is a seller for every buyer but there can be more shares bought on upticks than sold on downticks. I guess that's what the original statement was eluding to. Money flow is calculated by subtracting the volume of trades on downticks from the volume of trades on upticks. A positive result means that more shares were bought on upticks than were sold on downticks. A negative result means that more shares were sold on downticks than were bought on upticks. Positive money flow, especially when calculated over at least a week, indicates accumulation while negative money flow indicates distribution.
