Les, When you apply for a job with the Federal Government, or when you apply for a security clearance, you get to answer 8 questions. I don't remember all of them but some of them are: 1) Have you ever been a member of a Communist Party or other group that advocates the overthrow of the United States Government? 2) Have you ever been arrested or convicted of a crime? 3) Have you ever used an illegal narcotic drug such as marijuana, cocaine, hashish, heroine? 4) Have you ever been under the care of a psychiatrist or committed to a psychiatric institution? There are other questions as well. If you answer "yes" to any of the questions, you get to explain your answer on a blank sheet of paper. Interestingly, this is where Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp both committed perjury. Monica lied on the oath by stating she had never seen a psychaitrist (she had), and Linda Tripp committed perjury by stating that she had never been arrested (she had a grand larceny conviction on her record). Even more interesting, the only two people who can work in the Whitehouse without a background invest- igation is the President and Vice President. Everyone else must fill out that form for their personnel records. -John
