Interface Systems is Appointed to TransPoint Internet Bill Delivery And Payment Technology Associate Program
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Interface Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: INTF - news) today announced its appointment to TransPoint's Internet Bill Delivery and Payment (IBDP) Technology Associate Program. TransPoint Technology Associates are independent companies that work with TransPoint (formerly MSFDC) to offer a wide variety of Internet bill delivery and payment systems products and services, including project planning, development, integration, training, support and ongoing maintenance.

''We are very pleased to have been named to such an integral group in this exciting new arena of Internet bill delivery and payment. In the past, customers could only pay their bills over the Web; they still received paper bills in the mail. Now, for the first time, bills will be made available for both delivery and payment over the Web, a revolutionary development for both consumers and billers,'' said Robert Nero, president and CEO of Interface. ''Our expertise in document distribution and mainframe-to-Internet connectivity has made our move into the IBDP market a very natural, smooth transition. Our work as a systems integrator with some of TransPoint's pilot IBDP projects has been very successful, and we look forward to many future IBDP successes as a Technology Associate with TransPoint.''

Internet bill delivery and payment is an Internet-based service that securely and reliably delivers richly formatted bills, statements, invoices, notices, and associated advertising to any online consumer or business, and returns payment, remittance instructions, and related information to the biller and/or designated payee. TransPoint's IBDP software systems are designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing systems of billers and financial institutions, so that those companies may then present bills electronically over the Internet and then receive electronic payment of those bills.

Technology Associates such as Interface serve as integrators in the connection between TransPoint's IBDP system and the pre-existing systems of billers and financial institutions. This enables billers and financial institutions to make a quick and easy transition to the TransPoint system for IBDP.

''Interface was a natural choice for our Technology Associate program. Their historical expertise in working with legacy systems and their long relationship with Microsoft made them a prime candidate to become a systems integrator. Their appointment to this program makes our recognition of their capabilities official. The work they've done with the beta projects we've given them has consistently proven their ability,'' said Karen Anderson, business manager for the TransPoint Technology Associate program.

Interface was accepted to the Technology Associate program after completing all the program requirements, which includes its ongoing status as a Microsoft Certified SNA Solution Provider. Before TransPoint created the official Technology Associate program, Interface worked with TransPoint (then MSFDC) in an unofficial capacity as systems integrator.

To become a Technology Associate, systems integrators must participate in a series of technical training sessions on a variety of products, including the TransPoint Biller Integration System (BIS), Windows NT(R), Visual InterDev(TM) Web development system, Microsoft SQL Server(TM), and more.

Currently being tested in a number of pilot projects with consumers, billers, and financial institutions, TransPoint plans to make its Internet Bill Delivery and Payment service available to the general public in 1999. For more information, visit www.transpoint.com.
