Len

it doesn't automatically mean that there is some kind of
quid pro quo going on, but it makes me suspect.

I wouldn't be surprised if something was going on, on some level or other. I'm constantly looking for reaffirmations of hardware recommendations/ reviews/ suggestions from as many sources as I can come up with. Kinda the concensus theory of selection.

Although Anands mention of the Mushkin PC 100 as superior because of its PCB is qualified at the end of anandtech.com as not all that consequential since any of the modules in the comparison would be fine on a BX mb.
He also mentioned in the.. about the test..part, something that I would like to get an opinion here about. That a most perfectly harmonious system in terms of stability, with which to test these rams includes the PCI Millenium II rather than the AGP G200. Is it the consensus here that PCI video lends more stability to the system than AGP?

Sorry I didn't have more of an opinion, Len, about what Anand may or maynot do to float his boat. I guess we have to put the possiblility of that into our equations of hardware selection procedure.

I am also an Anand devotee, but I want to mention something that has been bothering me of late.

I have similar impressions. I do not visit the site as much as I used to and do not place a lot of weight on his reviews. He has always seemed well intentioned and a likable guy. I respect his success.

His passion is to review hardware. Without the means to purchase the hardware he relied on donations. He does not seem to want to say anything bad about anyone. It seems to carry over to his reviews.

JMO of course but there are just too many good reviews.

Should be noted at Anand typically gets his hardware not from the manufacturers, but from vendors who advertise on his site (or just want a plug.) I would be more suspect if he got the goods from the manufacturer, who could then hand-pick creme puffs to send him.

Having said that, the site does have its limitations. He's a well-intentioned, smart teen-ager giving his best anecdotal impressions. I find it most useful for in-depth info (layout, specs, etc.) for potential purchases, rather than things like reliability info or benchmarking. One prompt, well-intentioned data point.

Regards,

Dave

All,

Like a 16 year kid knows anything about PCB design/manufacturing,Nature of design of electronic circuits, etc. Seems kind of fool hardy to me. The Blind leading the blind. At least Tom has better credentials....
