Shopping.com sued over ''Titanic'' video

WASHINGTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Internet shopping service Shopping.com said it was served with a summons and complaint for
allegedly selling the video of the blockbuster motion picture ''Titanic'' below cost.

Shopping, based in Corona del Mar, Calif., was served on September 12 by MTS Inc, which filed the suit in Sacramento County Superior Court, Shopping said in a
September 21 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The suit accused Shopping and two other merchants of selling the ''Titanic'' video at below cost, thereby allegedly violating sections of California's business laws.

It seeks $25,000 in damages which might be tripled if a violation were established.

Shopping said it has not had a chance to investigate the charges and an assessment of its potential exposure could not immediately be assessed.

But it warned that substantial attorney fees may be incurred should litigation proceed to trial.
