Seems to me that George Soros bet on the wrong horse, I believe that Latin
America would be a far better horse than all of mother Russia...

Z: Yes, I intended bloodshed. I'm certain that many would grasp the opportunity to see as intolerable any substantial increase in what is already a significant sovereign indebtedness.

On the corruption topic: I'm aware that Argentina's attorneys-general have a full docket, and have had measurable success. There remains much work to be accomplished, however.

On industrial expansion: Very True! I had started to post something on this a while back. Got interrupted.

Certainly, I agree that the economies require more dimension. and they working to that end. Tough job though.

Only several years ago Argentina had a cotton industry that exported nearly all of the raw product. For the complacency of an industry owned and operated by the state, entire enterprises founded in cotton by-products were ignored. The Uruguayan textiles industry was only too happy to accommodate the blunder.

Yes, it will take some more time. Can't ignore how much of a hindrance corruption always is. That's for sure. But, if Argentina ever gets rolling again in earnest, unhindered, it'll be a juggernaut.

On Soros: Haven't read Victor's post. I'll wait.

You're right, of course. For what good prospects lie ahead, the financial terms for any assistance could be sweetened.

Enjoyed the commentary, Z. As usual.

Soros has huge investments in Argentina. He owns the largest real estate firm here, IRSA (ADR "IRS"), and he has also become the largest landowner through his other company, CRESUD (ADR "CRESY"). ___ Seems to me that George Soros bet on the wrong horse, I believe that Latin America would be a far better horse than all of mother Russia...
