Thanks for the article Dennis. I am confused about the Socket 7 architecture as it was my understanding that this would be phased out industry wide. Unfortunately for me, I haven't done any homework here and am speaking from memory from about 4 - 5 months ago. Memory seems to say that slot 1 architecture is the new configuration, both from a packaging perspective as well as heat transfer capabilities. I'm probably wrong and the best person to address this is Meathead whom we haven't heard from for awhile.

It will be a good thing for the market to have another choice and will help [prolong the shelf life] of existing Socket-7 based products,'' said Dean McCarron, an analyst at Mercury Research Inc. in Scottsdale, Ariz.
