Henry, *OT*

From Dee Brown's "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee to Caleb Carr's "The Alienist" and "The Angel of Darkness" (The latter of which I am reading now) I am still unmoved by your argument that there has not been a decline in morals. In fact, my argument is that we still have all that is illustrated in those two fine books plus a great deal more, in terms of a laxity in moral fiber today. I won't slip into a long litany of examples here as it is inappropriate as a topic. Nevertheless to argue against a moral decline, by citing the lax morals of yesteryear's Hells Kitchen and whiskey soaked reservations under the thumb of a negligent government, just defies logic. Do you honestly believe that life in the disadvantaged neighborhoods of New York and in North Dakota are much different today? I suggest a visit to either to disabuse yourself of the notion if you do. Sorry, I am not persuaded. Nor am I some forlorn oldster wishing for some romantic notion of the past.
Best,
Stitch
