We all know AMD is behind INTEL, and AMD is catching up.
So what, it is really doesn't matter.

Intel is leading in chip process now, but it was not. It was behind
MOT(power PC, 68000 series), MIPS and SPARC 5-7 years ago. Intel just caught up. One of the reason for Intel to make so much money is Microsoft Window. Market demand X86 CPU. Right now, seems like a lot
of companies already figured out this, X86 CPU is what market need.
AMD, NSM, IDTI and even small start up company are all doing X86 CPU.
AMD is the leader among those smaller players.

They probably won't make a lot of money right now, but they will
cut Intel's future profit. Like AMD's mobile CPU only sell at 1/3
intel price. What INTEL can do is lower their products price.
Intel profit will be squeezed from those low-end products. That's
what Intel has been doing for many years to Unix workstations.

It is interesting.

No, If the demo K7 is at 1.8V, then AMD will claim that this is their
.18um process. Moving from 2.2V down to 1.8V will require "major" changes
to their FET "architecture" ... This will be HYPE'd as their .18um process, but
as you note, this will just equal Intel's .25um process. That is why I
continue to believe that AMD is still almost a generation behind in process
development.
