No the Presidency doesn't have much real effect on the economy, but as far as the markets are concerned, the effect is continuing uncertainty, definitely a market negative. The way things are now, I think the odds are greater that he will be impeached and that will be a drawn out process.

The best political gauge we have near term is the November elections. If the Republican increase their majority, I think the market will rebound. If Bill's veto power has been stripped, back up the truck load up stocks. We'll see tax and spending cuts, interest rates will continue to fall which will only be good for stocks.
