dougjn,

Which printed version of the Starr report do you have? I'd like to refer you to something relevant to the Currie question in your post, since I don't have a scanner, it would be easier to give you a page number.

>>His explanation of his discussions with Betty Currie may or may not be fully convincing. He said he was seeking only to refresh his memory as he faced a furor of press inquiry.<<

Refer to part B of the "Narrative" Section XIV where it details the Betty Currie GJ testimony. I guess the only question I have is why would the President be making his "you were always there, right" "We were never really alone" "Monica came on to to me and I never touched her, right?" "You can see and hear everything, right?" statements to Betty Currie in an effort to "refresh his memory" by stating falsehoods? You see the President knew he touched her, he knew they were alone in his study and Oval office, he knew that Lewinsky was at the WH at times when Betty Currie was not there. He obviously knew she could not see and hear everything (does that include his "inappropriate contact with Lewinsky?). Is Betty Currie a liar?

Aside from some specific word parsing and timeline inconsistencies, which I don't know would constitute perjury, I believe he flat out lied about his comments to Betty Currie, his intentions in making those comments, the gift retrieval process, his willful non-recall of several events, his touching of Monica, and his account of Kathleen Willey.

I have not reviewed the transcript, nor do I want to spend too much time doing so, because I believe the political/leadership issues I outlined this morning will weigh even heavier on Congress.

Just my view.
