****Warning****

****Way off Topic...In fact so far off topic that it is in left field***

OK...I can't stand it any longer either. I am a registered Repulican and have been my entire adult life. YES Nixon, Reagan, and Bush were my guys. Never voted for Clinton.

Given that,,, I say this whole Monica thing is a joke. It is Strictly politics and we all have to get beyond our biases so we can see it. Clinton is a fool who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. But this should not have come to the publics attention.

Unfortunately I do believe in the right wing conspiracy and all those sanctimonious fools who try to impose their pious attitudes on others. Kennedy was a bigger jerk but it remained underlid by the media...and most importantly by J.Edgar Hoover..who dispised Kennedy. At least Hoover realized we were all sinners and we shouldn't judge others morality in their private lives...and Kennedy was hardly discrete.Certainly Hoover would not have disclosed it since he was far from innocent with his own wardrobe of woman's clothing.:-) At least Clinton was discrete and no one would have found out except for Monica's big mouth.<vbg>

Sorry, but Starr, Newt, Hatch, Hyde and all the other baffoons also lack morality and have no room to talk, it is a prerequiste to be in congress. God... even Biden, who had the nerve to comment on Clintons behavior is a known Plagirist, They all have skeletons and to even start an investigation on someones sex life is absurd. Of course Clinton would lie or at least weasle word the truth under oath.

I was in ST. Maarten for the past week and they are all laughing at us for trying to remove a president whose country is in the best shape and is NOT going bankrupt as some others are.

PS: Yup, it does feel better.:-)

MORE WAY OFF TOPIC --

Other officers in the armed forces are thrown out for adultery. He is the commander in chief, so in a democracy, why should he not be held to the same standards?

Active duty military personnel serve under a specific code of conduct. The president is commander in chief under the Constitution, but he or she (one day!) is not active military.

Goodness, as we have seen recently, it is clear that no party has cornered the market on adultery/fornication. I am still laughing at Rep. Hyde's "youthful indiscretion" at age 41 (while in public office)! That man is an optimist. Good for him.

Memories are so short. Surely I am not the only one who remembers Ronnie on TeeVee swearing to us up and down that there was no such thing as arms for hostages. Oops! Then, his mea culpa speech in which he took full responsibility -- but saw no need to resign. Ultimately, someone had to take the fall for Iran/Contra, so they pinned it on Caspar Weinberger and he was indicted. Bush, of course, pardoned him in order to put the sordid affair behind us. Yeah, right.

Perjury has a specific legal meaning/implication and has always been notoriously difficult to prove. Therefore, I look forward to the Republican House charging Clinton under the omnibus racketeering act (RICO). I do hope they impeach him because that action will return to bite Congress on the ass!

*** Way off topic ***

First off, even if it is established that there was perjury here, perjury in a civil case over a matter that is not material to the issue on hand is almost never pursued. And it happens quite often in normal life.

Second, if one extends the definition of "morality" beyond mere sexuality (and these days, it looks like one doesn't even have to do that!), then many of the Republicans stand stark naked too! If we insist on genuine morality in our politicians, we would end up with nobody!

Third, the role of the President vis-a-vis the economy is somewhat like that of a baseball team coach. If the team succeeds, he is praised more than he may deserve. And if it fails, he is blamed more than what he deserves. Goes with the territory. If the economy hadn't done well in the last two years, I am pretty sure that the Republicans and their supporters would have heaped plenty of blame on the President.

Fourth, hard it may be to believe, but officers in the military are not covered by the US constitution, but by a different code, the name of which escapes me right now. Whereas the President is protected by the US constitution, just like the rest of the civilians are.

Finally, you promised no more Clinton posts on this thread. Let's see if you really stick to it.

Dipy.
