They are also paying capital gains taxes on any increases as a result of their investing tax paid income. Are you suggesting that we create another layer of taxes? Maybe they should just hurry up die and get it over with so the estate taxes will go into the national treasury. <g> bp

I had a sales or consumption tax. There is a large number of people in the cash economy who pay very little income tax. They did an audit of So. Cal. gas station owners some years back because they found that they reported an average net income of under $ 7,000. Those people who are in the cash economy are also hiding the income while collecting some government benefit, such as Medicaid or Welfare. A common ruse of some Asian immigrants is to move their money into their kids' accounts and go on government assistance, especially for medical benefits.
