Russell: During the '70 oil embargo folks in my countryfied neighborhood took to walking on weekends. Few cars on the country lanes. People had smiles on their kissers for once, and time to talk with the neighbors. We spent more time socializing in front of the fireplace. Felt we knew our neighbors, for a change. This reminded me of the groups of destitute Mexicans I had lived around for a few years of fishing on the Pacific coast south of PV. Poor, but happy. RH
