This company absolutely blows me away. They produce this win zit mpu that appears perfect to drive laptops (lowest power consumption, smallest size), hype their development of this device over a year ago, and then dissappear behind the dark side of the moon. Wherearetheyforchrissake?

In the wsj article today about the increasing share of non-Intel laptop mpu's, they weren't even mentioned. Meanwhile, even the not yet available Rise technology mpu was discussed. And then they have the nerve to tell us that this time next year, they'll have a 400-600 mhz Win Zit 3 in volume production ... right after they said ... uh, duh, yup, we still got this 240 mhz thing ... duh, um, we didn't expect all these other guys to kick our little buts with their 300+ mhz ... Gee, we guess Americans really like fast processors ...

>>Even then, the bulk of the WinChip 2 parts will initially fall short of the 266Mhz speed seen as the entry point for the desktop market, C“t‚ admits. IDT doesn't expect to crack the 300MHz barrier until the first quarter of next year, when it plans to ship a device with a 128k level-one cache.>>

Absolutely pathetic. Does anybody have the least doubt that by then the standard will be 400 mhz?

Hey IDTI - here is a concept - if you say you're gonna do it ... do it.

Thanks for the posts.

IDT's execution problems continue to drag the prospects for the stock down. Let's hope that the shift in emphasis and adjustment in facilities will fix the failure to perform competitively. Until they show some results, it's the same 'ol story sung to a slightly different tune.

Still, the stock buy-back should prop the stock up and prevent it from falling bellow recent lows (unless the market tanks big). I expect the price to gravitate toward the 6 1/2 level in the short-term (3-4 months). It may move higher if the company can show some improvement in the currently dingy outlook for pricing climate and WinChip prospects.
