I know alot of investors here(esp Luc) are getting really bearish but any sane person has to listen to the p&f'ers.Their ta is not seeing a massive decline. They are getting more and more buy signals everyday and it looks like things are firming up.Most sectors have reversed to bull alert.Tom Dorsey said today the bulls have the football.Mind you, their Bullish percent indicator(which turned bullish a week ago)has never reversed back down right after giving a bullish signal.I am dying to put alot of stocks..GTW,IBM,NKE,DELL,INTV,...the list goes on and on but that p&f stuff is scaring the bejesus out of me.

OTOH,Jerry Favors says without a doubt a test of 7000 is coming in the next few weeks........

I'm eyeing GTW for puts.I think even if we do rally GTW is exhausted....

"cause premature trigger and/or letting losses run bigger than wanted."

You're absolutely spot on here, Thean. I know (intellectually) when to exit a losing trade, but sometimes I fail to execute (emotionally)as I know I should, eg, I "hope" the stock up or down. I made the mistake on MU and NEON to average up my shorts and that is a basic trading no-no for me. I don't feel too bad about missing the upside on the longs as I put in limit sells at approximently 6-10% gains which is part of my strategy. PPDI and CHIR just ran thru them (CHIR got an upgrade from DLJ which helped I'm sure.)

Actually, I have three "trading" strategies:

1. Buy (or sell) & Hold for several months. These trades are based primarily on FA. During the spring/summer I shorted several cyclical companies as they were going down the tubes due to Asian problems. WIT, ZEUS, AMP, etc. The the damn tower company fits here, too.

2. Position Trade for a week or so. These are (almost) purely mechanical mo-mo trades based on recent price/volume characteristics. I really don't know much (if anything)about the behavior of these stocks. Overall, it works for me about 70% of the time. EG, CHIR, PPDI, INTV, etc.

3. Intraday trades. This is where you really need to have a good idea about the ebb & flow of a stock. I can only do this with the internuts which I've traded for the last five months.

The Market certainly seems like it wants a "vacation" from all the recent volatility and uncertainty!
