Is it possible to run different scans that, pieced together, put out cup and handles

for example. a volume scan which looks for the C&H volume formation.

next add stock within 95% of all time high

next a scan which looks at recent price movement identifying possible handles

and finally a scan which looks for stocks that have a certain time period between all time highs.

I am quite sure there are other variables which I am overlooking and the Cup part is most likely not workable but, it is just an idea

Gee Brooke, I would settle just for the 1st 3/4 of the cup formation without the handle and without the volume. Could at least look at potential charts and keep track of them to see if the formation completed.

Brooke,
...if you add percentages for setting the levels of the base, rims and handle, there are many possibilities. Too many for QP2 -- and for my Altair 8800 computer, built from a kit several decades ago.

Maybe Sean will arrange 8 hrs on his Cray. & thanks for the 4-bar fear. Politics often begets inspirational TA, I hear.

Brooke,

"The problem is that my computer and QP2 can't handle all the formulas and loops."

I found the same problem, I thought it would be possible to do iterations to identify "rolling" stocks with a sine wave formula. Pulled out the old trig books and jumped into sine, cosin... etc. (on the slopes) and decided it would take several coprocessing super computers to check out the possibilities. BUT, these are good ideas, they keep us thinking (and up all night!!).

Sure have appreciated your scans (and humor) and the ideas that pop out of your scans.
