MU short-term technicals at $33 were overbought in terms of %R, Stochastics, and RSI. DMI never really confirmed the strength of the rally, too, as the ADX never punctured 50 to the upside.

Kurlak's announcement was very well "timed" indeed.

Now short-term technicals are trending downward, with %K (75) crossing below %D (77). %R turned down from 89 to 65 ("overbought" ~80). RSI turned downward from 92 to 74 ("overbought" ~80).

RSI was making new highs while the stock was failing to make new highs. On 8/17/98, at MU's close of $35 1/4, RSI sat at 63.

MACD still positive, but if tomorrow is unkind, that will turn negative too.

This change in direction is exactly what the pure technical traders were looking for.
