"when I turn off the monitors at night and look back in the room all you can see is small little blinking and steady lights..."

absolutely! <GG> well said. just my cable modem, which always stays on, has five twinkling lights for network packets, transmit and receive. then there's the external analog modem lights, the jaz drive light, speakers, a canon printer, the pc tower on/off light, and the answering machine light... a really cool combination of red, amber and green lights that i keep bringing my wife in to look at. why? because i have no life! <G>
