Dale,

For the most part, the stock is behaving like others in the industry.

But the recent fall is more company-specific -- it is due to a pre-announcement of a revenue decline that appears to be worse than others in the industry.

I'm not sure exactly why ASYT has suddenly been hit by a harder revenue decline than other companies in the sector, but I would guess that it is two factors:

1. reliance in recent years on a fairly narrow customer base concentrated in the Taiwanese foundries, which are highly sensitive to semiconductor sales cyclicality,

2. the revenue didn't decline as much as others in the industry during the October-June quarters and so they are catching up with the industry decline now.

With regard to the second point, I remember that in a conference call about 2 quarters back an analyst joked that it looked like ASYT was operating in its own 'mini-environment', because its orders hadn't fallen off yet in the way other co.'s had experienced.

The co. just isn't operating in its own mini-environment any more.
