Hey Blank,

Good to see you back!!! I figured you knew COMS earnings
were in the bag, and didn't want to bother with the
ups and down BS inbetween the quarter.

You here to stay or you more vacations or other plans?

Drop in and say hello sometime:-)

btw...I hope you still have your shares!!!

joe

Blank,

Some important comments that need amplifying.

""For the first time in a long time, the news about 3Com is positive in almost all respects," said Michael Cristinziano, analyst at Gerard Klauer Mattison & Co. in New York."

IMO, this is a genuine comment!

"Company executives said the quarter benefited from high demand for new products recently released across all its markets, including large corporations, small- to medium-size businesses and the home. In a conference call with analysts, they said a slowdown in sales to Asia was offset in the quarter by growth in the U.S. and Europe."

Where have you heard this before? -g- And 1999, will most surely
improve this as Europe's growth increases rapidly. Euro
currency change in 1/1/99 will be a big hit!!

"In addition, 3Com's costs were down 36% from the same period a year ago. "We feel that all the hard work we have done is beginning to pay off," Eric Benhamou, chairman and chief executive officer, said in an interview. "We feel optimistic about our prospects for the rest of the year."

I don't know why there's that year/year comparison. I would have
thought it would be sequential...36% is damn good. Money managers
will eat this up. Means a company is under control and running
more like a well tuned engine...UNLIKE the previous 3 quarters.
