<Anyone out there willing to guess how far off software-encode is?

I would think half baked MPEG1 encode would be a year or two with a new high end machine....then maybe 3 years for MPEG2 encode??
HQ Broadcast type...5-7 years?

Were you thinking longer or shorter time frame??

Just guessing...but I think it boils down to how much you wanna spend on your PC/Workstation. Who knows what tricks will show up in a year or two though that could speed things along.
