Despite the fact we don't know whether Dell will go up or down today, we know this thread is the place to be, discussing the best of the best in the way of equities. Dell, Msft, Aol, Csco, Cpq , etc
are among the most active stocks in one of the fastest growing segments of US industry. Most came out of nowhere in the last ten years and are challenging or exceeding the previous generation of more famous and bureaucratic companies like Hwp and Ibm.
While Dell, Msft, Yhoo, are today at or close to new highs,
even Mr. Buy and Hold Buffet, with his top grade investment capability, has had to use his unexplainable and extra-sensory talents
and go to $9 bil cash. And Peter Lynch would probably be there also.
Dell and others like Gtw and Msft would fit their list of stocks to own IF the companies were more mature and if the next ten years were more predictable/assured.
Our bets are placed that technology is now an integral and indispensible part of society.
The lack of bureaucracy in Dell and Gateway provides the flexibility to navigate uncharted waters (web sales, immediate
incorporation of latest technology in the products) and thus maintain growth rates. This is forcing changes in others who have had in the past,a 'lock' on the technical field (IBM, Hwp, DEC) and who have made
fortunes for their managers and a few investors because computer users at the time had no technical expertise to fix the equipment or even
to evaluate prices or cost.
One big change is that corporations, thanks to schools and
computer courses, now have their own computer experts who can do
a major part of their own service and maintenance and love the work.
Dell is assisting companies (in keeping computing costs at a minimum) by providing Web sites with details of each computer purchased and the 'know how' to update or integrate their systems, as opposed to companies who insist that they alone can properly do the job(If you contract with their Service department for a fee)
(will now leave podium and have a diet coke)hahahaha.
Claim an Aspartane defence, can't remember where I left off (G)
Ahhhhhhhh yes, Buy Dell anytime, any price.....
What does it take to keep Drew happy??? A 3/1 split for GTW(g)
Sure hope Mr C. is behaving properly, foreign markets are looking great
