marginmike,

>Those numbers assume no migration to 3g by 2002!

I dunno do they or not. There are a lot of technologies out there and I just summed GSMs and CDMAs together. Maybe W-CDMA went to the wrong camp. However, like Tero I also believe that the 3G impact is not around the corner.

I went to check www.emc-database.com and, yes, EMC is an European company (British). They are reputable, independent and it would be very surprising indeed if they twisted the figures to support some scandi-hooligans.

Does anyone else have cellular subscriber forecasts from any other independent source?

Anyways, my GSM operator informs me I have roaming with 116 operators all around the world. I wonder what would be the magic trick that would turn the tide?

marginmike, not only the figures but also Tero is on my side so you have absolutely no chance of winning this argument :-)
