What a week because I called each of the market double bottoms, the first one before it happened, and the second right as it was happening, and then WMS, son of Anchor, has caught fire and now I'm working on my triple. Those who are lucky enough to receive the chart picks knew in writing at the bottom of the last dip in Amazon.com, and were tipped almost exactly at the bottom there too, and AOL was on the ** list last night.
WMS in less than three months has the same percentage move as Anchor has had since I bought it almost 17 months ago, and the WMS management is showing more savvy in their surplus cash management than Anchor (but still not the highest use), they aren't threatening to takeover something, they don't need to split, they don't need to switch to the NYSE, they roll out their new machines just like a Thompson submachine gun firing away, and they've exceeded the best creation of Anchor (WOG), and the principal outside shareholder (Sumner Redstone, who is MUCH OLDER than Stan Fultan for those looking at the retirement or permanent retirement angle) is buying and not selling shares so the float is shrinking.
Even at an eighth of Anchor's price, WMS is giving Anchor a run in ACTUAL stock price increases except for special days like the yesterday's surprise joint venture news with Sand (silicon, get it?) Gaming. But there's no need to knock Anchor because Anchor is great, but WMS is better.
I gave a ride to a friend from the airport so I took the opportunity to stop in at Santa Fe and Texas on the way back. The usage counts are light but the value is in the fact that you can still see what's hot as well as see just the actual machine numbers in these casinos.
First, Texas is early in the building of a huge parking garage and a modest expansion where they are going to put in the truly outstanding Gaudi Bar concept in at Texas. Well done Station Casinos. Only the
rest room is displaced by construction but the construction may interfere with business a little just because it is so big and visible
from Rancho Drive. Sunset Station's almost identical construction is
further along and behind the casino and is not a factor at all.
Visiting Sante Fe and Texas it is apparent that Station Casinos knows their business but not Santa Fe. Santa Fe just had their own expansion and remodelling and they look old-fashioned even now.
