<<It is fairly clear that in the technology universe, the guys who come
out with only a Me-Too-Product rarely succeed. >>

The strategy works pretty well for Microsoft.

Mary Cluney:

<<It is fairly clear that in the technology universe, the guys who come out with only a Me-Too-Product rarely succeed. AMD has had sufficient time and money spent on them to prove that they cannot and will not succeed. They will forever be a day late and a dollar short.>>

Based on your premise, Katmai will fail. Katmai is a Mee-Too-3DNOW-Product. It is not a day late. It is 9 months late and $300 TOO EXPENSIVE!

Also the PII-333 notebook would also be a ME-TOO-333MHz Notebook-Product. AMD introduced the K6-2-333MHz already and PII-333 notebook is nowhere to be seen.
