If history is to repeat itself...which it will...Dell will falter. The question will DELL be able to re-group. Compaq has essentially been through three of these changes. Dell has been through perhaps one already. Don't be lead into believing that DELL is some indestructable company that can do no wrong.

the fact that Earl 'the Pearl" Mason owns almost NO STOCK does not say much about CPQ's top finance guy's confidence in his own company
I have heard that Earl Mason has over a million ESO shares, so he has a pretty large stake in the future success of CPQ. BTW many of those were granted at a strike price higher than current price, if rumors are to be believed. Remember that ESO does not show up on filings, although grants to key executives are often announced as a part of shareholder's meetings.
