Sure they have an nearly limitless set of options for buy or build. Are you suggesting they will buy YHOO and/or AMZN? They're not rubes.

Money's flowing in the other direction here.

Compaq Computer's (CPQ) AltaVista, CNET's (CNWK) Snap!, Infoseek (SEEK) and Lycos Inc. (LCOS) have agreed to be featured search engines on the Microsoft Network for one year in a deal Microsoft (MSFT) says is "worth in excess of $60 million." The agreements call for each of the four companies to provide their services on MSN by purchasing highlighted placement on the site in exchange for a guaranteed number of impressions over one year, the company said. A Microsoft spokeswoman added the four will be added to MSN at the end of the month, along with its own MSN Web Search. Each search service including MSN's, will share a percentage of customer searches on MSN. Danny Sullivan, editor of Search Engine Watch, said, "All (the) people who seem to be jumping at this are trying to become up-and-coming players," Wired reported.
