Absolutely right. I'm not making the case that this was smart business, it was obviously not. But CPQ bit the bullet to clear up a long standing problem, and paid the price.

My point was really about the relative share of CPQ and Dell, and how analysts view it. Since we both hold CPQ and Dell, we should hope that the analysts figure it out and don't 'punish' Dell for losing share that Dell didn't have in the first place. Of course if they 'reward' CPQ for gaining share that they didn't really gain that's OK by me... Worked for Dell the last 2 quarters and I'm living proof that share price is all that matters at the end of the day.
