dmf - Re: " If AMD can spin this chip for notebooks, why doesn't Intel respond with information that will help consumers listening to NPR "

The "battle" is Three-fold.

1. Intel needs to "sell" the OEM notebook manufacturers - and Intel has been doing this with immense success for 10 years or more.

Remember - AMD only had Compaq annoucee a 300 MHz K6 notebook - and Compaq's Pfeiffer is the first to stick it to Intel whenever he can. Intel had EIGHT OEM's announce 300 MHz Pentium II notebooks just a few weeks asgo, including Compaq. Compaq's 300 MHz Pentium II has been on display for sale at Fry's in Silicon Valley for two weeks already - and they can barely keep them in stock.

2. Intel's marketing continues to keep Intel products in the forefront of most consumers' minds when choosing quality products. The products themselves (Intel's) offer superior performance.

3. After the hoopla - which is just about over already - Intel and AMD will compete head on and Intel has been doing pretty good for a long time.
