Tom Siebel is quoted on their www site as saying that if any present vendor in SFA gets over half the market within 2 years ,they will be able to hold their own with ERP vendors. This seems likely, and if so all the rest of the SFA vendors will be "road kill". Apparently the writers of the CNET article don't know that there isn't any Scopus - it was merged into Siebel, who is now the strongest in its field. In the end I expect to see ERP control a part of the SFA market but not completely dominate it. One of my reasons for saying this is that ease of use is so important, and this is not one of SAP's big strengths. Also,USA is the world's biggest market, and off hand I can't think of any foreign company that completely dominates (ie over 80% of the space) any significant part of our software market. If there are exceptions to this general rule, I'm sure someone will point out my error! <<g>>
